i

'I'
defines me but itself elusive
quicksand
the more i try to hold it
the more it drifts apart...
the more i scream "its me"
the more it screams back " who me ?"

it lurks
somewhere
between my identity and my image
when removed
this self same 'i'
makes a 'dent' in my 'age[d]' 'entity'

who then is this 'i'?
...its there in my LiFE
...its there in my FAMily
...its there in the SOCiETY i live

its there following me
A SHADOW
which is there
BUT
still not there...

Cast Away !

Cast Away
in a world which is not my own
who is a stranger, who is my own
i do not know
the Silent Noise within me
is my only guide Here
I follow it, I dont know where.

My end is unknown
my beginning unknown
The only thing I know for sure
I begin to end
and i end to begin...
again & again & once again !

still not On to Rock

am no critic of movies but its my small attempt to understand the forces that govern the society in which i live. am a gr8 hindi movie buff and a farhan akhtar fan too. however his first movie as an actor is a bit disappointing atleast from a women's perspective...
The female characters do not have any "character" to speak about. they are just incidental to the man's life. her dreams, her aspirations are subjugated to that of the man. prachi desai better known as bani- the quintessential bahu of the Valya household (Kasamh Se) is just a Skirt- blouse version of the Sari role she plays in the serial. She lives, dreams, even sleeps as per her husband's wishes. her voice somewhere gets submerged in the noise of the drums & the guitars.
The second 'lead' woman, and i use the term with some doubt , is Joe's (Rampal) wife Debby. She gives up her dream of becoming a designer and ends up in a fish business where 'the smell refused to go from her hand' to support her family. And they are the very hands which Joe leaves in the Cab to be one with his friends, to be one with his dream. her only purpose is to be the 'muse' for whom poetry can be written. Welcome to the gen y version of Sydney's "untouchable beloved"....
the poetic justice of achievment of dreams is only possible through the man. does the 're-birth' of Rob symbolize a continuation of the same tradition?
'behind every successful man there's a woman' - so said my grandfather, so said my father- but i refuse to be behind the man anymore, i want to be with him. until then "magic" for me does not exist; am ready to Rock too, but when will the world permit it?
